About Us

Here at Prescott eNews, we think there's a lot going on in the Prescott quad-city area. And, yes, we know that bad news happens, but we also know that a lot more good news happens. So, we intend to tell lots of good news, while not ignoring the bad news.

Although there are some online news sites for the Prescott area, there aren't many that seem to take advantage of the medium of the internet. Here at Prescott eNews, we know the difference between putting a book or a newspaper online, and using the Internet to its full potential. And we think it's time that a quality news website makes its home in Prescott, Arizona.

How Old Are You?

Ssshhhh...! Don't tell anyone, but we launched our beta site in June, 2007. So, yeah, we're the new kid on the block. Well, at least for this particular site. But, our staff has been designing websites for nearly 10 years, and are also accomplished Photoshop digital artists, writers, photographers and design instructors. What all that means is that just because this particular site is new, it doesn't mean that we don't know what we're doing.

A Little Taste of Chicago Comes to Chino Valley PDF Print E-mail
Written by Bruce Thomson
Wednesday, 03 October 2007

Just in time for the Cubs' trip to Phoenix, a little taste of Chicago has come to Chino Valley. Actually Chow Hounds is giving Chino a great big taste of Chicago in the form of the true Chicago Style Hot Dog.

chowhounds2.jpg The collective vision of Dave and Cindy Lekan of Chow Hounds - located on Butterfield Road next to I'm Game and behind the Chase Bank - opened its doors on Monday after a major interior remodeling that has kept Dave and Cindy busy since July. Dave is also a general contractor so he was able to bring his skills to the project, but it's Cindy's Chicago upbringing that inspired the husband and wife team to bring this culinary "Monster of the Midway" to Chino. And I have just one thing to say about that... Thank You!

Dave explained just what it is that goes into creating the perfect Chicago Dog."You have to start with a quality all beef hot dog," he said, "We use the Vienna Beef hot dogs," (a Chicago institution since 1893). But it's the garden fresh toppings that give the Chicago Dog it's personality. Topped with authentic neon green relish, chopped onions, tomato wedges, cucumber slices a dill pickle spear and a dash of celery salt, "finally it's all served up on a freshly steamed poppy seed bun," Dave says. Chicago Style purists who are on the adventurous side can add the sport peppers for the final kick. And you get all of this for just $2.50. That's a steal in any town.

If you want more well there's chili, kraut and grilled onions not top mention great sides like French fries, chili fries (which were really moving Tuesday night) chips and daily soup specials. There are also other breeds of dog on the menu such as Polish dogs, Spicy dogs and, of course, corn dogs. There's also something that will be next in my crosshairs called an Italian Beef Sandwich.  All menu items are at family friendly prices.

For dessert how does cheesecake on a stick sound? It's called a Wunder Bar and it involves putting a wedge of cheesecake on a stick, dipping it in chocolate and keeping it really cold. I was too stuffed after my two Windy City Puppies to find out, but as Arnold Schwarzeneger said "I'll be back."

Chow Hounds is open Monday through Saturday from 11AM to 7PM so stop in sometime soon for the authentic Chicago-Style Experience.
