Surround yourself with color and art at the Krol Gallery.Have you been thinking about your New Year's resolutions? Let's see, eat healthier, exercise more, get out of debt? How about a different kind of resolution - like surrounding yourself with color and culture and reducing the chaos in your life? You might not be able to manage it forever, but what if you can sneak in a special lunch or two? Enter Natalie Krol. Spend about five minutes with her, and you'll notice one thing: this is a very creative woman. She's also kind and charming and tenacious and determined and feminine and zany and absolutely wonderful. Through all of those personality characteristics run a thread of creativity that permeates everything she does. And that includes the way Krol runs her business, Krol Gallery. For example, when she wanted to tell folks about an upcoming Open House, she brought in a miniature horse to Prescott, led by a darling girl that looked like a princess. The two of them, along with an adult overseer, walked around the Courthouse Square, handing out postcards announcing the event. The Open House was a resounding success. Krol needs to be creative, because the gallery is located in an unexpected place - the Prescott Lakes Commerce Center. It's peaceful there, surrounded by lakes and hills and lovely homes. And, when you enter the gallery, it feels fresh and colorful, energetic and spacious. But, it's not downtown next to the many other galleries, surrounded by cars searching for parking spaces and people pushing buttons at crosswalks. Also located in the Prescott Lakes Commerce Center is the Royal Hawaiian Coffee and Wine Shop , another unexpected gem tucked away from downtown traffic and crowds. On one side, Clyde and Lynette Woods serve gourmet coffee and terrific food. On the other side, they sell wine and offer winetasting seminars and socials.
Krol had a young girl and miniature horse hand out postcards for an Open House. So, when Krol sat down and thought about this, she realized that here was a wonderful opportunity to bring food and art together in a cozy setting. She set up a couple of tables in her gallery and arranged to have lunch delivered from the Royal Hawaiian Coffee and Wine Shop. Krol calls it, "Food for Art Lovers". "I felt the gallery was such an attractive space," Krol explains. "I thought it would be nice if people could sit among the art." Lynette Woods has developed a menu just for the gallery, which includes a variety of hamburgers, sandwiches, soups and salads. Exotic non-alcoholic drinks and gourmet coffee are also available. Krol has filled her gallery with art that is as colorful and creative as she is. She offers pieces by premiere artists that include paintings and sculpture and even wearable art such as scarves and jewelry. Your lunch can be a private time of quiet conversation, or you can choose to have a free art seminar while you're eating. The on-duty art agent can introduce you to the surrounding artwork in the gallery, telling you about the artists and some of the techniques used in creating their work. Art for Your BusinessKrol knew that many businesses want fine art on their walls and in their offices, but in our current economy, it could be a tough item to budget. Getting creative again, Krol came up with the "Art Lease Program". Krol explained, "People with businesses can now lease art for 3-5 years, which gives them a tax write-off during that time. At the end of the lease, they can purchase the piece for only $1. But at the same time the investment value is increasing."
During the last Open House, Brett Blevins was on hand to talk about his artwork.Another Open House?Yep! There will be an Open House on Saturday, January 26, 2008 from 11:30 am to 1 pm. It's a great opportunity to meet some of the artists and and see what's new. Clam Chowder will be served, so don't worry if it's chilly outside. Gallery Information
